SIDE BAR NOTES

[1] The date is very telling and suggestive of the entire culture having the scales fall from their eyes that they can see their way clear to forging a new and better path.

So it is fitting and logical that that same blood might be called on to rejuvenate and sustain her to the end. [8] Rv 12:12. See also Mt 24:22. [9] Since Christ lay in the tomb on the 7th day, the early Christians counted His Resurrection on the following day as the 8th Day and realigned their worship gatherings to Sunday (the Christian Sabbath) to honor it. (See Acts 20:7). But in this, the highest sense of the term, the 8th Day represents Christ’s return and the promised resurrection of all the faithful [10] By the understanding of theistic evolution, the first man, Adam, was created over eons of time via evolutionary processes guided by the divine hand. Though physically human, however, he was still essentially an animal until God, as Scripture describes it, breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (Gn 2:7). This gave Adam (with Eve, and us, their progeny) immortal human souls and free will. Through sin, however, the soul can die (Gn 2:17) and free will can dwindle to nothing. [11] Lv 12:3. [12] Mt 25:32. [13] Mt 3:12, Ps 1:4, Is 1:31.

[1]

So, are we in the grip of the apocalypse St. John warned us of in the last book of the Bible? Or is it just a coincidence the way we, as a country, have been abandoning our adherence to the Commandments (and in their correct order) over the past 100 years? Or maybe this is simply another trial run. There have been many throughout history.

Whatever the answer, when any country sinks to our level of depravity, its collapse seems almost impossible to avoid. [2] And in consideration of the heavy reliance so many countries have on American might and commerce, it is hard to imagine bedlam not breaking out throughout the globe if the US were to suddenly fall. Our future is, therefore, dire if we fail to heed the warning and repent. [3] And if these really are the end times, as so many indicators suggest, Scripture foretells an even darker future.

“‘In the whole land,' says the Lord, ‘two-thirds shall be cut off and perish,

and one-third shall be left alive.’” [4]

And with but little time left to go before this all comes to fruition, it’s interesting to note that one-third of the population may be a good estimate for the size of our diminished faith community. But the prophecy has even more to tell us.

“And I will put this third into the fire,

refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested.

They will call on my name, and I will answer them.

I will say, ‘They are my people’;

and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’” [5]

So if Christ did allow Satan one hundred years of increased power to wreak havoc in our world, within these Scriptures lies maybe the reason. He knows Satan’s boasts are empty and that His Church will never fall. And He also knows that through such trials we are made stronger (some of us anyway). So let the wind blow. We have no need or desire for any Rapture. By the grace of God, we’ve taken all that Satan has thrown at us, thus far. And in Christ, [6] we can take whatever he has in mind for the end. [7] And we are encouraged in knowing Satan’s time is indeed short. [8] But we’re also aware of what awaits with the majority in this country shedding their adherence to God’s first Command.

Make no mistake, this is the 8th Day we are talking about. [9] Christ who was with us at the end of the 6th Day to give us free will, the Law and finally the Sacraments to civilize us, will be here again on the 8th as we return those gifts and devolve back into the animals we once were. [10] And He won’t be here to give us anything, either, as He has in prior times (at least not until He’s judged us on what we did with His gifts). The 7th Day Sabbath rest, which began at Calvary, will have ended. And on this, the following Day, the 8th Day, in accord with the scriptural prescription, the entire world is to be circumcised. [11] The sheep will be separated from the goats, [12] the wheat from the chaff. [13]

And that pretty much sums up the feelings of many in the US in 2016, when the first edition of this book was published. For people of faith it was not a pretty picture. End times predictions were popping up all over the web as it was hard to imagine any other means of turning things around. This book was a little more optimistic putting Christ’s imminent return at roughly 50:50 odds. But setting things right even by this book’s estimation was still going to require something akin to a whole series of successful Hail Mary passes.

And adding to the pessimism was the chaos of the 2016 election process. Not that that year started so badly. Yes the country was in shambles, with no small thanks to the Obama administration, which seemed to be cheering it on. And yes, with but 4 more years to go, we also seemed, as a country, to be right on the cusp of rejecting the last of the Ten Commandments, bringing about, no doubt, our complete demise. But the Democrats had stupidly neglected to groom a viable candidate to step in after Obama’s term was over. And the Republicans were poised and ready with 17 candidates of their own to pounce on that mistake and take the country back in the void the Democrats had created. With but one exception, too, any of those 17 candidates should have annihilated any candidate the Democrats chose to run.

It was that one exception, though, that was giving the Republicans ulcers. He was an infamous womanizer with a checkered past who didn't seem to have a vocabulary greater than a few thousand words. But to make matters worse his lack of political sense seemed to make it impossible for him to keep from putting his foot in his mouth every time he spoke. And when he lashed out at his opponents it mattered not which side of the fence they were on. His attacks were indistinguishable to those by someone of the maturity of a seventh grade mentality.

But in spite of all the well deserved criticism he received he refused to concede to the obvious, that he was not a suitable candidate and bow out. And the most frustrating thing about it was that he seemed to be growing on people. In primary after primary he kept winning, the reason being, there were so many good candidates to choose from, the majority of conservative voters were split evenly between them, leaving him with the lion's share of the vote from those who opted for none of the above.

There were some rumors, too, that democrat operatives were voting for him in states where they had open primaries, just to ensure that he'd won. And it makes a great deal of sense that they would this. They relished the idea of running against such a politically inept candidate. It would seemingly guarantee the election would go in their favor no matter who they chose to run. And lo and behold, the strategy worked. By mid-year he was nominated the Republican candidate for president and much to the chagrin of the majority of conservatives in the party.

It left many in the party committed to just sitting this election out. With a choice between the seemingly retarded, loose canon, real estate mogul, Donald Trump and the Democrat challenger, Hillary Clinton, what difference would it make they pondered. The country seemed doomed either way. And Satan would apparently win after all.

But Trump then did something unheard of in American politics. The death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was a major issue in the upcoming election, wtih the winner being given the right to decide his replacement. [14] So Trump, sensing he needed to do something to win back his evangelical base published a list of justices he would choose from, all of whom having the same strict constitutionalist judicial philosophy as Scalia. And it won a lot of people over, especially the pro-lifers who saw in this list that the repeal of Roe v. Wade was suddenly within their grasp.

So that's where things stood at the time of the election. And the Democrats were ecstatic at how the contest they'd seemingly rigged was going. They'd also been sitting on an October surprise, a sexual scandal involving Trump, that they sprung on the public through their lackys in the media to seal the deal. [15] Nothing they thought could possibly go wrong. And then Trump won. It was a narrow victory where he didn't even receive the majority of votes. But he did win it electorially and it sent shock waves throughout the world. The pro-lifers had come out in huge numbers in the battleground states and that was the margin of victory.

So in 2017, and 100 years after Our Lady's appearance at Fatima, Donald Trump was sworn in as America's 45th president. And for the first time the wisdom of it became manifest. As a political outsider, all Trump knew was what it took to excel in the private sector and he applied the same philosophy to government. Donald Trump was a project manager and in that capacity there are just two fundamental goals, getting things done on time and under budget. But to that Trump added a third prerogative. He was driven by an overwhelming desire to accomplish more for the American people than any president before him.

And the result was a whirlwind presidency like none anyone had ever seen. In very short order (a mere three months), Trump had brought the economy out of the recession the left's policies had nurtured. In fact the stock market began surging from the day he was elected in anticipation of the pro-business policies speculators knew he would implement. His governing philosophy was very simple and it was the perspective of someone from the private sector where the bottom line was always getting things done, on time and under budget. And to that he added one other element, a seemingly insatiable desire to be remembered as the most effective and accomplished president in history. And to those goals he was tireless, working 20 hour days 24/7 to get things done. It was impressive.

On the world scene he drew o his experience as a parent, rewarding good behavior and never letting bad behavior go unchecked. Add to that his repuatation as a loose canon and it kept all the
